Hypocrisy on parade over CIA leaks to WaPo
Two really timely posts from Captain Ed on the McCarthy to Priest leak (which of course cost America dearly in its relations with Europe and also in the war effort--and may even have cost lives). It seems that Democrats and the MSM are going out of their way to paint Mary McCarthy in a positive light:
- First of all, the gift that keeps on giving: John Kerry goes on the Stephanapolous show, and it turns out he was against the CIA leaking National Security secrets to the press--before he was FOR it...
- Second, a longer piece in which the good Captain points out the ridiculous and over-the-top lengths that the Washington Post and (especially) The New York Times have gone to in order to attempt to sugar coat McCarthy and her betrayal of her country.
So...let me me make sure I understand. The outing of a NON-COVERT agent--who all of Social Washington knows is working for the CIA and married to Joe Wilson--is worthy of weeks and weeks of MSM headline sliming and warrants a "special prosecutor", but a woman who causes irreperable damage to the reputation and intelligence-gathering capabilities of the US is a "saint"? What planet am I living on?
