Democrats and the Road to American Defeat
It is almost as if a group of people is in a room, the entire room is on fire, yet no one can even look up and notice because they are so transfixed by Paris Hilton on their TV screen. And they want you to be transfixed; all the better to keep you from seeing the truth: they are trying to steal your country and your livelihoods out from under you.
Any day of the week it starts this way: they parade to the Senate floor with their lap dog underlings in tow, arms full of their opinion polls and notes from focus groups. They have a smug grin and they wink at their friends in the leftist press. And then they open their mouths and start talking... Harry Reid. Charles Schumer. Nancy Pelosi. John Murtha. Dick Durbin. Ted Kennedy.
Your "leadership". Yippie.
If you are wanting to hear that everything is going to be all right and that the "boo boo" will go away, you are in the wrong place tonight. This meat tonight has not even been on the grill; it is as red as red gets. My country is heading for a catastrophe as sure as I sit here. And yet its citizens seem oblivious, and those driving the Bus can't even see the road.
No, tonight is going to be a stream of consciousness, unedited, unadulterated cry for help for my country. Because I am deeply concerned about its future and that of my loved ones. We have an enemy among us--a more formidable enemy than Al Qaeda, the Taliban, Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and all the other forms of Islamist Fascism arrayed against Western Civilization. More formidable, because regardless of the ferocity of our external enemies, I know in my gut that they can be defeated by a United state of America.
The enemy among us is a different story. Our enemy is our own ignorance and our own complacency and comfort. Our external enemies know about this internal enemy; indeed they count on it. And I fear it is going to take a catastrophe much worse than the one we have already faced to mobilize our fellow citizens to give a damn.
Our external enemies will be happy to arrange for this; they are actively looking for cracks in the facade to exploit for exactly that purpose. And they have been practicing...
Recently we have discovered the ferocity of our enemies: killing their own, forcing parents to cook their children alive--and then to eat them. Mass graves with decapitated heads. Televised beheadings. Killing entire families if the men join the Iraqi Police force. Believing that blowing up markets full of children--on purpose--is justified... I could go on for hours. The barbarism of this enemy cannot possibly be comprehended, much less understood by sleepwalking children of the 1960's who are more worried about how many pieces of toilet paper I use every day.
And now the Democrats--and a few cowardly Republicans--are wanting to abandon Iraq to the external enemy--and to abandon America itself to the internal one. They are willing to hand over 1/3 of the world's oil to our enemies, hand a victory to Al Qaeda and a Godsend for its recruiting efforts; they are willing to be the enablers of a barbarism combined with religious fervor that cannot even be conceived. The Genocide will begin the second we pull out. And the Democrats want it to happen--why?? Certainly millions of lives cannot be more important that the all important goal of winning Congress and the Presidency... can it??
The fact that we are ignorant about our internal enemies the Democrats is a great demonstration of just how asleep we have been since the Greatest Generation made all of our prosperity possible. This, after all, is the same party that:
Support the troops? Is it "support" to come out on the Senate floor and call American detention facilities Gulags and compare its guards to Nazi Germany? Is it "support" to accuse US Marines of mass murder on the Senate floor and to Tim Russert of Meet the Press, only to find now that the charges appear to be unsupportable? Is it "support" when the Senate Majority leader announces 'The War is Lost' and the tape of this conversation is all over to the media--just as the American surge is beginning and men are being asked to risk their lives for it? Is it "support" when the Democrat nominee for President in 2004 announces that soldiers only go to Iraq because they are uneducated? Or compares our troops, as Teddy Kennedy recently did, to Saddam Hussein's hangmen? Is that what constitutes "support" to the Democrat party?
Is there one person in the Democrat Party who has openly advocated spending more money on our National Defense? (OK, Lieberman. Except they tossed him out.) So who else? Is this not the same party who refuses to fund a Missile Defense system whose prototype works?? Is this not the same party who wants to divert billions from the Intelligence budget... for assessing the National Security impact of Global Warming?? While meanwhile barbarians are plotting abroad how to murder millions of us right now? Does that not seem like it just might be a bit more of a pressing problem, and one deserving of Intelligence investment--than is some apocalyptic theory of climate that even client scientists themselves can't agree on?
And which party is it that fought the Patriot Act tooth and nail? Which party is having a canyption fit over the NSA listening to conversations and reading emails from terror suspects? Which party came out screaming "racial profiling" when Airport Security payed more attention to Middle Eastern men in their 20's and 30's that to your 80 year-old Grandmother? Which party's President had Bin Laden cornered and the means to have taken him out--but didn't have the political courage to do it, even after OBL had already been implicated in the bombing of American embassies and the Khobar towers? Speaking of courage, which President sat by--helpless--as Iranian thugs tossed out a pro-American regime and took the entire staff of the US Embassy hostage for over a year?
They say "we" have made the world less safe; which "we" are they talking about? If the world is less safe today, it is because of Democrats, not in spite of them.
Now Iran is poised to go nuclear. Over a third of the world's oil supply could fall into the hands of worlds most dangerous regime--and its primary source of terror funding; Turkey and the Sunni states could start a war that would consume the entire region should we abandon the Kurds (yet again). And it is the Democrats who push for us to pull out. And this does not even take into account what Iran, Syria, and their State-Sponsored terror regimes have in mind for the region, and for Israel too.
Yet what do the Democrats do? They send their Speaker of the House to Syria! To visit one of the terror sponsors who would be responsible for the next Jewish holocaust! They open over 300 investigations on a Republican administration while it tries to conduct a WORLD WAR. Three hundred investigations! Your tax dollars at work. They say there is at least one oversight hearing in progress at any hour of any business day in the Capitol now. It is a full time 24x7 effort directed entirely towards crippling the Executive Branch of YOUR elected Government. They are spending your money trying to find some dirt--any dirt will do (just ask Scooter Libby)--rather than trying to solve the problems of this country.
Besides our own complacency and inactivity, the Democrats are the single most dangerous enemy we face. I truly believe that Democrats are willing to allow our country to be hit over and over again--so long as they can retain power, install a nanny state modeled on European socialism, and control what you say ("hate" speech), what you hear (talk radio), what you see, and what you do. They even want to control your medical care. Would you trust Harry Reid with your care?
Seriously, bear with me here: can you name ONE thing that government does better or more efficiently than private industry--excluding the military? Just one? Me neither. So which party wants to put the Federal Government in control of every aspect of your lives? Hmm?
What good have the Democrats done? Anyone? What is one positive thing they have done, other than to make the War more difficult to win, to set a whole new standard for whining and bitching and moaning, and to hinder the President's ability to defeat our enemies--at every turn. If there is anyone the Democrats are supporting by their actions, it is those who brought down those Towers--and those who would do far worse given the chance. for those of you who have been asleep for six years, the Towers came down BEFORE we liberated millions of Iraqis, not after.

For that matter when have Democrats ever been good for the economy either? Short of wartime enonomies, not in my lifetime. Not Roosevelt--no it was the War which bailed his New Deal out. When, then? 20 percent inflation during the Carter years? And who was it that really balanced the budget--Clinton?? The same President who in his first term--thanks to his wife--tried to nationalize our health care? Wrong; it was the Republican Congress elected in 1994--the first in over 50 years--which ushered in Fiscal responsiblity and the late 90's "boom". Sure Clinton signed some bills, but whose bills were they?? A: The Newt Gingrich Republicans wrote every piece of legislation Clinton signed. Or, to put it in a different light, riddle me this: in both of the recent recessions we have been in, what was the one thing--above all else--got us on our feet? A: In the 1980s, fresh from the Carter malaise of the 70's, Reagan's tax cuts turned the country around. In the aftermath of 2001, post Enron, post 9/11 the country went into deep depression again. What did the President do that led to the boom we enjoy today? He cut taxes.
So what do our Democrat friends want to undertake, now that they have tricked Americans into believing they actually stood for something? Well, for one thing, Dems want to let those tax cuts expire. They want to raise taxes on "the wealthy"--and these days that means anyone who is paying taxes. They want to tax our successful corporations--which are already fleeing overseas or going under because of the burden that post-Enron regulations puts upon them. Meanwhile a greater percentage of the world's capital investments flows to companies overseas --to places like China --where business is not so heavily regulated. And the dollar drops like a rock. So how to Dems propose to fix this: they say "why don't we raise taxes on them?"

If this weren't enough, Democrats want to add entitlements including "free" college education for all (even illegals) and "free" cradle to grave health care. They want to open our borders, a fact which George Soros--their financial guru--openly supports. Free?? Who are they kidding? How will more huge entitlement programs be good for the American economy? It is almost as if the Dems want to control and tax so much that there will no longer be incentive, anywhere to work hard and get ahead--why do that when the fruits of your labor will all be confiscated anyway?
So you have to ask yourself: How will these "plans" Democrats have for us impact American productivity and competitiveness? How about our Geopolitical Strategic needs? And where will we find the money to defend ourselves from the Islamst madmen who want us all dead?
Folks, I am seeing reports this week that Al Qaeda is rumored to be activating sleeper cells for a big attack this summer. I am watching in horror as Iran continues to threaten its neighbors, sponsors the killing of Americans in Iraq, and tries to obtain nuclear weapons. I sit in stunned silence as the US Congress and the US Senate--so blinded by its Socialist ideology and burning hatred for one man--is about to allow this entire country to go up in flames. And it will be they stoking the fire. They will be watching as thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of us go to our death. They will be watching as the Middle East explodes and Oil prices go to $200 a barrel. They will be watching as a slow, creeping Sharia law begins to take foothold in America. They will empower the United Nations to take even more of our wealth, not understanding that it is the ability to create wealth--not redistribute it, which is critical to a healthy economy. Rather than teaching the world to "fish", this Socialist vision would instead divide the large American fish for the rest of the planet's consumption. They are busy killing our soldiers, and putting us and our way of life in grave danger; yet, for whatever reason my countrymen seem not to care one wit.
America is at the edge of the cliff, and the Democrats stand ready, willing, and able to push us over it. Yet, just because Democrats seem to tolerate Genocide well, I personally am not willing to go gently into that good night. Because if the Democrats achieve what they are planning for us, we will not only be a primary cause of Genocide abroad; we will be a part of it. Here. In this country. It is there... but people do not see it. We are in trouble folks. And it isn't about just politics anymore--it is about our lives. If our lives and livelihood aren't worth saving, what is?
