Obama: All Hat and No Cattle?

It's a Texas expression, but Bryan Preston has found a clip from The Guardian (no conservative rag, that...) which suggests there is a lot of paranoia and secrecy behind the scenes at the Obama campaign. Still. If the guy is to be a major party nominee for President, is it not appropriate for the media to begin to question why all the secrecy? And perhaps to break out the microscopes?

So far, instead of probing investigative journalism, what we are getting instead are eye-rollers like this: from NBC anchor Brian Williams:
WILLIAMS: I interviewed Lee Cowan, our reporter who covers Obama, while we were out yesterday and posted the interview on the web. Lee says it's hard to stay objective covering this guy. Courageous for Lee to say, to be honest. The e-mail flood started out we caught you guys, we never did trust you. That kind of thing. I think it is a very interesting dynamic. I saw middle-aged women just throw their arms around Barack Obama, kiss him hard on the cheek and say, you know, I'm with you, good luck. And i think he feels it, too.
Earth to nutroots: this is a politician pandering for votes, not Elvis. The media seems more inclined to make this guy into a rock legend that it does getting to the root of what he actually stands for. And his rhetoric and secrecy aren't helping in that regard.

This rush to adoration by the press is bad news for Hillary Clinton, but it is also bad news for the rest of us. Anybody who has a chance to become the most powerful man on Earth deserves scrutiny. A lot of it. Dispassionate, analytical, non-compromising scrutiny. It is high time that the press began to take its own role seriously: as a check and balance for ambitious politicians rather than as a cheerleader for them.

Meanwhile, one Clinton supporter is not too enamored with Obama, either. And Kyle-Anne Shiver sees a disturbing method behind the Obama "madness":
Barack Obama seems to have effortlessly achieved voter adoration, fresher, younger, more at ease within his own skin than she will ever be. He would appear to be as much a natural as her own Bill. It may appear to a great many observers that Barrack Obama is just one incredibly audacious, even lucky, albeit frighteningly charismatic dude.

These personal qualities are not the sole reason he is where he is, and I suspect the wily Mrs. Clinton knows this full well. I suspect it must bother her that Obama also appears to have mastered the playbook used by her own political teacher, the legendary amoral guru of left wing activism, Saul Alinksy.

Hillary has met not only her match in Alinsky tactics, she has met the master of bloodless socialist revolution, in my opinion.
You will definitely want to read the whole thing. Obama is a neo-Marxist in Elvis clothing; unfortunately it appears that it will be left to the Republicans to reveal what is behind this mask of "Change" for change's sake.
