Romney Projected Winner in Michigan UPDATED: 40-26!

Fox has called it for Mitt: this is great news not just for Romney, but also for Fred, because it is a serious body blow to McCain, and it doesn't help Huckabee either. Michigan Republicans clearly aren't responding to the Huckster. At all. Nor are they wild over his stated desire to amend the Constitution according to "God's plan". Nevertheless the purveyor of snake oil salesman is down in SC tonight predicting a win there. (Surely the wonderful people of South Carolina cannot be that far gone--this guy is a joke.).

Romney's margin right now is 10% with 20% of precincts reporting, and a 25% margin over Huck. It will be interesting to see if that holds; if so it is definitely not good for McCain's future prospects.

All in all, a good night on the (R) side of things.

Meanwhile, the Socialists are debating in Nevada... sans Kucinich:
Here’s more on the court ruling allowing MSNBC to bar Denny K: “An hour before the debate, the state Supreme Court’s unanimous order said that blocking the debate unless Kucinich got to participate would be “an unconstitutional prior restraint” on the news network’s First Amendment rights. The justices also said the lower court exceeded its jurisdiction by ordering Kucinich’s participation even though he first requested and was denied relief from the Federal Communications Commission.”
Good; the court made the right Constitutional decision. Now Hillary and Barack can really let the mud fly.

UPDATE: Fred Thompson's campaign lets Huckabee have it:

..Mike Huckabee's campaign to be John McCain's Vice President has hit a snag. He has gone from the mid-thirties in Iowa to 11% in New Hampshire and now about 15% in Michigan.

On higher taxes and looser immigration, Huckabee has been done his best these past few weeks to mimic McCain. But this is nothing new. In fact, while John McCain was leading the Senate charge to grant amnesty for illegal immigrants, Mike Huckabee was one of the loudest cheerleaders. And at the same time McCain was voting against the Bush tax cuts, Huckabee was in Arkansas increasing taxes some 21 times.

As for Mitt Romney, he has been all over the map on virtually every issue important to conservative voters...
UPDATE: Final margin is 40-26; McCain got slaughtered! I doubt that is exactly opening checkbooks all over the country...
