Speaking of "Consensus Science"
I will ask this question once again: if the Leftists in Congress are really, really certain that the world is going to end if we don't stop exhaling, then how come they aren't stepping all over themselves to build clean carbon-free nuclear plants instead of all the coal and other fossil fuels used to power our country? Hmmm?Today’s run-for-your-lives-we’re-all-going-to-die report comes from, and I quote H. Josef Hebert of the AP:
“The study included co-authors affiliated with Iowa State University, the Woods Hole Research Center and the Agricultural Conservation Economics. It was supported in part indirectly by a grants from NASA’s Terrestrial Ecology Program, and by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Searchinger, in addition to his affiliation with Princeton, is a fellow at the Washington-based German Marshall Fund of the United States.”So how does ethanol kill us all? By shifting land use. We will take “plow up more forest or grasslands,” which will lead to burning vegetation, which will release carbon dioxide and will destroy the rainforets.
And this is happening. The Euro push for palm oil has made Indonesia has made that nation one of the world’s biggest polluters. In 20 years it has gone from 1.5 million acres of land for raising palm oil to 14.8 million acres. This means 13.3 million fewer acres of rainforest.
And I can see the allure of using switchgrass and garbage to make alternative fuels.
But won’t that have an unintended consequence as well? There seems to be no end to finding fault with each “answer,” which tells me that these scientists may not want a solution that continues the status quo of capitalism.
