Over-Stimulated
Glenn has a great idea to fix the housing market, as a reaction to one of the latest proposed amendments to the Stimulus bill:
And speaking of the Stimulus Bill--the fat lady has not sung yet, but the bill as it stands is in trouble:
STIMULATING THE AUTO BUSINESS by making interest on auto loans deductible? Hey, let’s support the housing market by making home mortgage interest a refundable tax credit!Actually, that isn't a bad idea. Not only would people start to look at buying homes again, many current homeowners could use such a provision to refinance at lower rates.
And speaking of the Stimulus Bill--the fat lady has not sung yet, but the bill as it stands is in trouble:
- Only 37% of the people now support it
- John McCain is leading the opposition (yes, you read correctly... and kudos to Maverick for gettting this one right)
- According to ABC radio, the Dems reportedly do not have enough votes to pass current bill
- Obama's ill-considered cabinet appointments (including the tax cheat Geithner getting a collective "pass"..) have damaged his credibility on "Judgment" very early in his Presidency
- YOU have made a difference; keep calling your Senators and telling them what you think. That number is: (202) 224-3121. The message: if it doesn't create new jobs THIS YEAR, it's out. Period. No Woodstock museum in NY, Mafia museum in Chicago, or bailouts of California, Oregon and Washington's--or any other State's taxpayers: THEY made their own bed; they voted their leadership in--it is not my problem. This is the way to effect change in a Democracy--make local leaders pay for their bad choices, not soak the rest of us to bail them out. Don't like what you have? Fine then: vote them the hell out. But don't ask me to pay for your mistake. And if your Senator is a Republican: tell them to stay strong, to not get weak kneed and let stuff in that shouldn't be. This is how our government works: our leaders are responsible to us, not the other way around.
