UPDATED--CHAVEZ SHOOTING STUDENTS*** Chavez moves to close ANOTHER opposition TV station

UPDATE (BUMPED): That "man of the people"--Hugo Chavez--is now shooting students who disagree with him. If the world needed a clearer picture of what this cretin is made of, it has it now with the linked video.

*********** Original Post ************
A mere three days after it shut down the highly popular RCTV, the Hugo Chavez "Brownshirts" are now targeting another TV station for "ideological cleansing". Meanwhile Chavez is reportedly sending more police, troops, and Chavez Brigades to rough up those participating in large scale demonstrations.

Does this sound like a Democracy to you? (It did to Jimmy Carter.)

UPDATE: If you haven't noticed, the Associated Press is an intellectually and morally bankrupt institution. It is beyond belief how they are spinning this clear-cut power play by the Marxist thug Chavez. If you want to know why local newspapers--including the once-great Dallas Morning News--are failing miserably, it is because they are all clear-cutting their own bureaus (e.g. the Morning News no longer has a robust--and conservative-leaning Washington bureau; now it relies almost solely on AP Wire Stories, the New York Times, and the Washington Post. So folks who once could count on their hometown papers to show some semblence of Common Sense are now being subjected to non-stop leftist propaganda that does not agree with their sensibilities). This abomination by the AP is but another example of why newspapers will one day be an afterthought for a majority of Americans.

The Real Enemy is Right Here; and has been All Along

Dinesh D'Souza, whose new book The Enemy at Home puts the blame squarely on the American Left for the worldwide rise in Islamic Militancy--has predictably been under attack by many media elites since the publication of the book. So D'Souza responds with a column of his own in the Washington Post. Here is just a small taste (read the whole thing):

It goes on. The Washington Post's Warren Bass writes that I think Jerry Falwell was "on to something" when he blamed the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, on pagans, gays and the ACLU. Slate's Timothy Noah diagnoses me with "Mullah envy," while the Nation's Katha Pollitt calls me a "surrender monkey" and the headline to her article brands me "Ayatollah D'Souza." And in my recent appearance on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report," I had to fend off the insistent host. "But you agree with the Islamic radicals, don't you?" Stephen Colbert asked again and again.

Why the onslaught? Just this: In my book, published this month, I argue that the American left bears a measure of responsibility for the volcano of anger from the Muslim world that produced the 9/11 attacks. President Jimmy Carter's withdrawal of support for the shah of Iran, for example, helped Ayatollah Khomeini's regime come to power in Iran, thus giving radical Islamists control of a major state; and President Bill Clinton's failure to respond to Islamic attacks confirmed bin Laden's perceptions of U.S. weakness and emboldened him to strike on 9/11. I also argue that the policies that U.S. "progressives" promote around the world -- including abortion rights, contraception for teenagers and gay rights -- are viewed as an assault on traditional values by many cultures, and have contributed to the blowback of Islamic rage.

The reaction I'm eliciting is not entirely new to me. As a college student in the early 1980s, I edited the politically incorrect Dartmouth Review and was frequently accosted by left-wing students and faculty. They called me names back then, too. And at the time I didn't care. I often informed them that taking on our iconoclastic paper was like wrestling a pig: Not only does it get everyone dirty but the pig likes it.

The Coming Holocaust: yes, it IS real...

Unless we wake up and snap out of it FAST, this IS going to happen. And those who will have to live with blood of millions on their hands will be the head-in-the-sand blame America First Appeasers, the Intel agencies at war with each other and with President Bush, the dinosaur elite media, the American Left, an Activist Supreme Court, the Democrat Party, the Clintons, Carter, and Turncoat Republicans... on and, of course, the Islamic Fascists who will "shock the world" just like Hitler did: by doing exactly what they say they are going to do.

Read this powerful essay, again. Read it all. And then take special care that the blood of millions of Israelis, Brits, or fellow American citizens are not on your hands too.

We can stop this madness--but it is going to take grown-ups, making tough but decisive choices. Are there any grown-ups left in this critically ill culture? We'll see... May God help those of us who give a damn.

The LA Times Gets One Right: "How the Left Led us Into 9/11"

Dinesh D'Souza writes a masterpiece, and the trailer says it all:

The Clinton and Carter administrations made the U.S. look like a weak, attractive target for terrorists
