A Brilliant take on The Sopranos ending
I've read several interpretations of the final episode of the greatest TV series ever--The Sopranos--but I must say the one I just read from Ed Morrissey seems to be closest to the mark. According to the good Captain, it wasn't Tony that died, it was his fantasy of a normal family life. But don't take it from me: the Captain makes a really solid case here.

A Final Salute to 'The Sopranos'
The best, most riveting TV series to ever come down the pipe had its last show last night, much to the chagrin of everyone in my household--and millions of others. We had a small watching party, and the howls of everyone present when the final credits started rolling were loud and discernible. Never has the term "blue screen of death" had more poignant meaning.
Probably the best "postgame summary" I have yet seen on last night's episode of The Sopranos comes from Dean Barnett. Sopranos fans who have already seen the ending will definitely want to read this; however, if you are still waiting to watch on TiVO or another broadcast on HBO, you will want to keep your powder dry for now--because the ending is revealed. But I really liked Barnett's take on it.
Yes, James Gandolfini may forever be known as Tony Soprano, in a way that the Star Trek cast retained their fame. But that isn't such a bad thing: because these wise guys were the best gangsters that Television has ever seen.
Tony and family (and everyone else who worked on this remarkably compelling show): Well done. We will miss you.
