War Czar??
Captain Ed comments on President Bush's new "War Czar" (To me it sounds like an attempt to resurrect the World War II era Secretary of War.).

Breaking: Bush Stands Up for Rove and Miers
This is good to see, although the court battle could get ugly. Still perhaps it will rally some Republicans to stand by the President for a change. It is "go to the mattresses" time.
UPDATE: Predictably--AJ Strata is as happy about this as I am.

If Gonzales Resigns....Then What?
When it comes to Alberto Gonzales resigning now, i am not sure I see much upside. While it is clear that Gonzales' defensiveness over what is clearly Executive prerogative has been a huge mistake and enormously damaging, to give the Democrats his head now simply plays into their hands.
AJ Strata is even more adamant against Gonzales resigning now. I don't blame him. But--unfortunately--there is no predicting what the President will do now. What is clear is that it should have never gotten to this. If this Administration is not willing to play hardball with the opposition, what is it prepared to do in the name of appeasement?

Stupid is as Stupid Does...
... and when it comes to the Bush Justice Department, there is plenty of stupidity to go around.
Good grief; how could they possibly have botched things up this badly over a simple function of the Office of Attorney General? Unbelievable.

Fitz goes up for the shot...Re-jected! (Again!)
Like a Kevin Durant blocked shot, the prosecution in the Libby trial today had yet another of its witnesses--this time an FBI agent--reverse previous testimony, after (drum roll) re-consulting their notes!
This of course is precisely what Libby says happened to him when he originally testified that he learned about Plame on a different date than other reporters' testimony shows.
Fitz is taking on water, and it is breaking my heart. Let's just say his FG percentage in this particular "game" is not breaking any records...

Media WAY out in Left Field on Libby Trial
If you are wanting to know how the Libby trial is going, I hope you are reading Tom McGuire over at Just One Minute every day. Because if you are trying to get the truth from the left-leaning TV networks, you are sorely out of luck. Clarice Feldman comments.
UPDATE: Prosecution 'Star Witness' Judith Miller: "I don't recall." Any jury who would convict Libby based on the events so far have got to be blind and deaf. And definitely dumb.

NBC's David Gregory Caught in Lie in Plame Affair?
Tom McGuire has just apparently nailed "Mr. Smug" in a nationally televised lie. What a shame...
