New Bin Laden tape set to be released within the next 72 hours. Just in time for a long-promised special gift come 9/11?
Miraculously, early video captures from the tape suggest that Bin Laden appears to be growing younger. Which, I hate to say, suggests that his God is a lot more powerful than one who occasionally makes an appearance in a tortilla or in the bark of a tree, or who sends one of his lackeys to speak cryptically with a couple-three peasant girls at Fatima.
Allah be praised.
My wife, incidentally, has travel plans for the 11th. I’m thinking I might have to strap her to the sofa until this thing plays out.
Don’t question my patriotism, though. I just bought a new dishwasher and washer/dryer set from Sears. So I’m doing my part to fight terrorism by keeping the economy humming along.

MSNBC Newsroom Booed Bush during State of the Union Address
You might think that this current story almost borders on the "unbelievable," but judging by the content of MSNBC--home of the real worst person in the world... AND Chris Matthews--this unfortunately is all too believable. But it still sucks:
Joe Scarborough has pulled back the curtain on the liberal bias at MSNBC, describing an incident in which people in its newsroom ceaselessly booed President Bush during a State of the Union address.
The revelation came on "Morning Joe" today at 6:02 A.M. EDT. Joe was discussing a recent episode at the Seattle Times in which reporters and editors cheered the news that Karl Rove had resigned. Scarborough applauded Seattle Times Executive Editor Dave Boardman for issuing a memorandum reproving his colleagues. For more, read NB items by Brent Baker and Ken Shepherd.
Joe went on to describe a similar incident at MSNBC.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: There was a story out of Seattle, and the reason I love it is that it's transparency in the news. You have an editor who was actually outing his own people. The Seattle Times newsroom broke into applause when Karl Rove resigned. And of course that's bad. What I like about it is that the editor actually wrote about it and went in and told the people in the newsroom that was unacceptable.
And I've got to say, my first night here at MSNBC was the President's State of the Union address in 2003, and I was shocked because there were actually people in the newsroom that were booing the president actually from the beginning to the end. And I actually talked to [NBC/MSNBC executive] Phil Griffin about it, and he said "how was it last night?" Because he was the one that called me out of the Ace Hardware store, got my vest on. He said "how was it last night?" I said "well, it's OK, I understand it's a little bit different up here than it is down in northwest Florida, but you had people in the newsroom actively the President of the United States. Phil turned red very quickly. That didn't happen again.

Juan Williams quoted as saying The Daily Kos is "in the poilitical center" (???)
If you watch Fox News Sunday from time to time, you have probably seen it: a complete look of bewilderment or incredulity on the faces of Brit Hume or Fred Barnes (or in the picture here--Bill Kristol) as they mentally try to grasp what Juan Williams could possibly be talking about... A case in point:Sometimes when you see NPR's Juan Williams on Fox News, you are left scratching your head wondering what planet he lives on, and what the color of the sky is there.Such questions must certainly have been raised in the minds of right-thinking "Fox News Sunday" viewers this morning when Williams suggested that the liberal blog Daily Kos "is now center."
I kid you not.
What precipitated this extraordinary lapse of reason on Williams' part was a rather accurate observation made by the Weekly Standard's Bill Kristol concerning Democrat presidential candidates attending the upcoming YearlyKos convention (video available here):
Every Democratic presidential nominee is going to the Daily Kos convention. That's the left-wing blogger who was not respectable three or four years ago. The Howard Dean kind of sponsor. Now the whole party is going to pay court to him and to left wing blogs. Not a single one is going to the Democratic Leadership Council meeting in a couple of weeks. That's the organization that Bill Clinton was head of in the early '90s - that was supposed to be the new, more moderate Democratic Party. The Democratic Party has gone left and it will hurt them in 2008.
Makes sense, right? After all, the DLC was indeed crucial for Clinton's success in the '90s. Yet, the past two Democrat presidential candidates have shied away from this group, and its tenets, moving further to the left, and not winning their respective elections.
With this in mind, it seems quite reasonable to suggest that Democrat presidential candidates who follow Al Gore and John Kerry's leftist playbook rather than the successful, though disingenuous, moderate campaign of Bill Clinton will have a hard time winning in the general election.
Not so surprisingly, Williams saw things differently:
What you described as left is now center. The majority of the American people, 70 percent, want us out of Iraq. In fact, if you asked Iraqis, 60 some percent of Iraqis say we're doing more harm than good in Iraq. There's a center here and I think what you're saying is they're playing somehow to the left.
Even if the only issue on voters' minds was Iraq, Williams' point would be way off base.
When one contemplates that Williams is actually believed by a certain percentage of his audience, it becomes easier to understand how the American people could have been so duped--by Democrats in General--in the first place.

Outrage: Nutroots assert that Conservatives WANT a "big" attack to Succeed
But then Moran gets into a theory by Matthew Iglesias--that Conservatives actually want a serious attack on America to succeed in order to facilitate the mobilization of the American people against our Global Jihadist enemies--and that assertion is patently outrageous from where I sit.
It is after all the Right which has been arguing all along for us to take the fight to the enemy overseas, to lessen the chance that a major attack would happen again here; this is the whole gist of the argument for "going on offense."
But it does not take a rocket scientist to see what the complacency of the Left, which has been downplaying our Islamist enemies and sabotaging the President's War Effort at every turn, can--and probably will--lead to.
But for Iglesias to take the leap from Conservatives predicting this logical deduction, to their wanting this outcome is at best unsubstantiated projection, and at worst--a veiled assertion that Americans who love this country now want their fellow citizens dead for political momentum. This nothing short of disgusting. Speaking for myself, an attack will not make me glad; it will make me even angrier at the Leftist saboteurs and their Comrades in Big Media for making another 9/11 possible in the first place.
No, we don't want a successful attack: what we WANT is for the people on the left to snap out of their collective BDR-induced Utopian stupor before the next attack happens.
Hello? McFly???
Unfortunately to ask for reason and logic to suddenly become a part of the Left's cognitive processes may be a bit too much to ask of these mind-numbed robotic ideologues or their supporters in the media. Iglesias writes for a reputable (but left-leaning) magazine now; but frankly I would have thought this sort of thought process to be beneath him.
Would a horrific attack change this dynamic? Maybe. Actually, I doubt it, because the hard left is already too far gone to ever find its way back to cognitive reason. Would an attack help to sway the "center" about the enemies we face? Of course it would. But so would have a lot more of an all-for-one-and-one-for-all Patriotic attitude towards this War and the brave soldiers who are fighting it, from those who have instead gone "all in" on America's failure.
Yes, our time may be running out to avert another attack--but had the Left actually been uniting with the rest of the country in our War effort in the aftermath of 9/11, instead of trying to sabotage it every step of the way for purely political reasons, the overall prognosis for the Country might just be one hell of a lot brighter.
It may make you Lefties feel better to put this on Conservatives; but this blood would be on your hands--and you know it. That fact does not give me pleasure, however; it does make me want to slap you in your myopic, ignorant faces.

Whining Cowards on Parade
This is arguably the poorest and most overtly partisan performance by a Congress in American History. And I expect it to get worse; fortunately so will the Congressional approval ratings. This is going to be a bumpy two years, but I think the Conventional wisdom about a Democrat sweep next year is way premature. First of all, none of the Democrat Presidential candidates are attractive to the middle. Secondly, I would not be surprised if the voters revolt against this Congress the way they revolted against the Republicans who impeached Clinton--and in that case there was actually a crime. The only thing criminal going on these days is the shameful and pathetic excuse for governing that Congress is exhibiting.For all the hearings and dramatic speeches, for all the votes and news conferences by House and Senate Democrats – and some anti-war Republicans – President Bush is still getting his way on the war in Iraq and will likely continue to, at least until September.
Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, the third-ranking Republican in the Senate, summed up the stalemate in Congress over Iraq this way at a news conference Thursday:
“The story is that after all of the bluff and bluster and after all of the political machinations and the efforts to use the [2008] defense authorization bill for the political purposes that have been described here and the purpose of undermining the mission of our troops, at the end of the week, we're left where we were at the beginning – namely, we support the president's policy, we support [Army] Gen. [David] Petraeus' mission and we support the efforts of our troops.”
“And not a single vote has undercut that mission or that support.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who remains a strong supporter of Bush’s policy in Iraq, added this assessment: “I am encouraged, because everything that I wanted to see defeated has been defeated. So, there's winners and losers in wars. There's winners and losers in politics, in sports. And as far as I'm concerned, Gen. Petraeus and the troops have won because we beat back efforts to stop their ability to change the situation on the ground.”
The House approved another withdrawal measure Thursday, but it is not likely to survive the Senate. And if it does make it to the president, he already has vowed another veto.
What say we send these whining, sniveling, cowardly prima donnas home next year?

Joe Klein blames Rabid Lefty Blog Vitriol on the Right?
In response, Klein unloaded on the Lefty blogs. Rick Moran chronicles the awakening of Joe Klein to the Left's dark side; for example this from one of Klein's most recent essays:

Anyone who doesn’t move in lockstep with the most extreme voices is savaged and ridiculed—especially people like me who often agree with the liberal position but sometimes disagree and are therefore considered traitorously unreliable.Of course Klein is not himself free of a bit of "moonbattery"; Moran discusses Klein's assertion that the reason for the hate in the Lefty blogosphere has its genesis with Rush Limbaugh--an almost paranoid take, and clearly one who is not aware of what Limbaugh actually does and says on a day to day basis. Moran starts by quoting an American Spectator piece which discusses CBS's disgraceful treatment of Goldwater in the 1964 election cycle:

The story, from the trip to Germany to the visit to Hitler’s estate was, of course, false from beginning to end.Equally hysterical was a liberal magazine that published a 64-page “psychological study” of the candidate which began: “Do you think Barry Goldwater is psychologically fit to serve as President of the United States?” You guessed it—after claiming to poll over 12,000 psychiatrists across the country, the answer was no. New York Times columnist C.L. Sulzberger answered the question this way: “The possibility exists that, should he (Goldwater) enter the White House, there might not be a day after tomorrow.” In case voters didn’t get the message, Democratic strategist and LBJ aide Bill Moyers designed the so-called “daisy commercial” that saw a child counting the petals of a flower disappear in the mushroom cloud of a nuclear explosion.
The Nixonian interlude allowed the left to fully vent their hatred at one conservative who most people think deserved everything he got. But the emergence of Reagan on the national scene gave liberals the screaming meemies. Reagan himself remarked that he discovered once he crossed the Mississippi River, he grew horns and a tail. And the viciously personal and outrageous comments made by his political opponents during his terms in office were unmatched until the Clinton years. Ted Kennedy accused President Reagan of deliberately fostering policies that would starve old people and children. Representative Charles Rangel called him a racist. The vitriolic hate directed against Reagan was met with a shrug, a wink, and usually a devastating put down that always contained a little humor. Hardly the stuff of a right wing attack dog.
For Klein to blame the left’s historic, hate-filled rhetoric on the recent phenomena of talk radio and specifically Limbaugh’s broadly drawn (and at times, over the top) satire is fantastically ridiculous. The world did not begin in the 1990’s with the right’s reaction to the deliberate Clintonian strategy of personally destroying your opponent with outrageous smears and lies. It’s just that the left has now perfected the technique and uses the world of blogs to vastly amplify the tactic so that the target feels beseiged. Witness the most recent kerfluffle over a post at Six Meat Buffet that skewered recently deceased blogger Steve Gilliard.Moran scores some really good points here--both in his glimpse of Klein's rude awakning, and in his historical criticism of Klein's excuse for the rabid left.
